Charles John Andersson, also known as Karl Johan Andersson, was a prominent nineteenth-century Swedish explorer, hunter, and trader who also distinguished himself as an amateur naturalist and ornithologist. Born in March 1827, Andersson is best remembered for his extensive travels through southern Africa, particularly within the borders of what is known today as Namibia. His expeditions into these regions allowed him to document areas that were largely unfamiliar to contemporary European audiences.
