Richard Archer, born on January 18, 1977, is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist, and composer. He is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, principal songwriter, and main composer of the indie rock band Hard-Fi. Archer's musical career began to take shape in the late 1990s when he fronted the band Contempo from 1997 until 2001. Following his time with Contempo, he became the driving force behind Hard-Fi, leading the group to significant commercial success. Under Archer's leadership, Hard-Fi produced several top ten hits and achieved two number-one albums. His songwriting is heavily influenced by his hometown of Staines, a theme that is frequently evident in his lyrics.
