Daisy Ashford, born Margaret Mary Julia Ashford, was an English writer who gained prominence for a novella she wrote as a child. Born in 1881, she authored her most famous work, The Young Visiters, when she was only nine years old. The story examines the upper-class society of late-nineteenth-century England.
Although written during her childhood, the novella was not published until 1919. The published edition preserved Ashford's original juvenile spelling and punctuation. While she had written the title as "Viseters" in her original manuscript, it was ultimately printed and released under the title The Young Visiters.
