Philippe-Joseph Aubert de Gaspé (1786–1871) was a French Canadian writer belonging to the prominent Aubert de Gaspé family, which traced its lineage back to Charles Aubert de La Chesnaye. Born into a family with a history of military and political involvement, he was the son of Pierre-Ignace Aubert de Gaspé, who served as a politician and seigneur, and the grandson of army officer Ignace-Philippe Aubert de Gaspé.
As a writer, Philippe-Joseph continued his family's legacy in French Canadian letters. His own son, Philippe-Ignace François Aubert de Gaspé, also became a writer, continuing the family's literary contributions into the next generation.
