Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Baird is most notable for serving as the very first editor of Weird Tales, a landmark pulp magazine that specialized in horror fiction.\n\nAlongside his duties at Weird Tales, Baird also edited Detective Tales, another pulp publication that was subsequently renamed Real Detective Tales.
