Isabella Banks, born Isabella Varley in Manchester on March 25, 1821, was an English novelist and poet. Throughout her literary career, she was also widely known by her married name, Mrs. G. Linnaeus Banks. Her writing career spanned the nineteenth century, during which she produced both poetry and prose.

Banks is most celebrated for her 1876 novel, The Manchester Man, which remains her most famous and enduring work. This book solidified her reputation and continues to be the primary work for which she is remembered today. She lived and wrote in England until her death on May 4, 1897.
