Captain Horatio Claude Barber (1875–1964) was a pioneer of early British aviation and a flight instructor during the First World War. He made history in 1911 by piloting the first cargo flight in Great Britain, transporting a shipment of electric light bulbs from Shoreham to Hove. Beyond his practical achievements in the air, Barber was also an academic trailblazer, becoming the first person in Great Britain to obtain an aeronautical degree.
