Elizabeth, Princess Bibesco (born Elizabeth Charlotte Lucy Asquith) was an English socialite and author who published a variety of literary works between 1921 and 1940. Born in 1897, she was the daughter of H. H. Asquith, who served as the British Prime Minister from 1908 to 1916, and his wife Margot Asquith. Her upbringing placed her at the heart of British political and social life, a position that was further elevated by her marriage to Antoine Bibesco, a Romanian prince and diplomat.

Throughout her writing career, Bibesco drew directly on her intimate experiences within British high society to write her novels and short stories. Her fiction offered readers a window into the elite social circles she inhabited, characterized by their distinct manners and interpersonal dynamics. Although she passed away in 1945, her literary contributions continued to be recognized, culminating in the posthumous publication of Haven in 1951. This final collection, which brought together her stories, poems, and aphorisms, was introduced with a preface by the prominent writer Elizabeth Bowen.
