Joseph Brotherton (1783–1857) was an English reforming politician, Bible Christian minister, and pioneering activist for vegetarianism. Operating during the nineteenth century, Brotherton dedicated his life to spiritual leadership and political reform, bridging his religious convictions with his public service.
Brotherton achieved historical distinction as the first Member of Parliament to represent the constituency of Salford. In addition to his legislative duties, he is widely recognized as the first vegetarian member of parliament, reflecting his commitment to the vegetarian movement and his role as a minister within the Bible Christian church.
