Charlotte Mary Brame was an English novelist active during the nineteenth century. Born in 1836, she published much of her work under the name Charlotte M. Brame, though her surname was occasionally misspelled as Braeme in various publications. Over the course of her career, her fiction found a broad audience, particularly through serials and popular novel formats.

In the United States, Brame's novels were frequently published under pseudonyms to navigate the literary market of the era. Her most famous American pen name was Bertha M. Clay. Beyond her pseudonyms, Brame was so closely associated with her most successful writing that she was often identified simply by the title of her most famous novel, Dora Thorne. She continued writing until her death in 1884.
