John Broome (1913–1999) was an American comic book writer who wrote extensively for DC Comics. Throughout his career in the comic book industry, Broome published stories under his own name as well as under the pseudonyms John Osgood and Edgar Ray Meritt.

Broome is particularly remembered for his creative collaborations with artist Gil Kane. Together, the duo co-created several major characters, including the supervillain Sinestro and the Green Lantern Guy Gardner, leaving a lasting impact on the publisher's superhero mythos.
