Brigadier-General The Honourable Charles Granville Bruce was a distinguished British soldier and veteran Himalayan mountaineer. He achieved historical prominence as the leader of the second and third British expeditions to Mount Everest, which were conducted in 1922 and 1924 respectively.

His contributions to mountaineering were highly celebrated during his lifetime. For his leadership of the pioneering 1922 Everest expedition, Bruce was honored with a special prize awarded at the conclusion of the first-ever Winter Olympic Games. His legacy remains defined by his leadership during these early, historic attempts to scale the world's highest peak.
