Thornton Waldo Burgess was an influential American author and conservationist active during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Born in 1874, Burgess dedicated much of his life to teaching children about the natural world through his writing, blending storytelling with a deep respect for wildlife and environmental preservation.
Throughout his long career, Burgess achieved an extraordinary level of literary productivity. He is credited with writing more than 170 books aimed at young readers.
