Arthur J. Burks (1898–1974) was a highly prolific American author and military officer whose career spanned the golden age of pulp magazines. Serving as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, Burks successfully balanced his military duties with an extraordinarily active writing career, becoming one of the most recognizable and productive names in the mid-20th-century popular fiction market.\n\nThroughout his career, Burks produced a vast quantity of fiction across multiple genres, catering to the high demand of American pulp publications. In addition to publishing numerous books under his own name, he frequently worked as a ghostwriter, producing books and magazine articles for other individuals.
