Alistair Ian Campbell, born on February 15, 1959, is an English singer and songwriter who gained international fame as the lead vocalist and co-founder of the British reggae band UB40. Over a career spanning several decades, Campbell helped guide the group to immense commercial success, with UB40 selling more than 70 million records worldwide and touring for 30 years with their original line-up.\n\nIn 2008, Campbell's tenure with the original group came to an end when he and keyboard-player Mickey Virtue departed due to a dispute with the band's management. Following their departure, the duo teamed up to form a new band. Campbell's musical journey took another turn in August 2014, when he announced a reunion with former UB40 bandmate Astro, who had also left the original lineup over management disputes and the band's musical direction. This reunion led to the formation of a new version of UB40 featuring the three former bandmates.
