Sir Michael Cathel Fallon is a British politician who served in various high-profile government roles over a career spanning several decades. Born in 1952, Fallon was educated at Epsom College before studying Classics and Ancient History at the University of St Andrews. Following his graduation, he began his career in politics by joining the Conservative Research Department.\n\nFallon first entered Parliament in 1983 as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Darlington, a seat he held until 1992. During this initial period, he served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Education and Science. After losing his seat, he returned to Parliament in 1997 representing Sevenoaks, serving that constituency until 2019.\n\nThroughout the 2010s, Fallon held several ministerial positions, including Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, and Minister for Portsmouth. In 2014, he was appointed Secretary of State for Defence, a position he held until his resignation in 2017 following allegations of sexual misconduct at Westminster.
