Louis Charbonneau was a translator who contributed to Canadian educational literature during the mid-twentieth century. He is recognized for translating English-language educational resources into French, making historical and geographical narratives accessible to French-speaking students.\n\nHis notable work includes the 1955 French translation of the Canadian elementary school textbook Pirates and Pathfinders. Originally written by Marjorie Hamilton and illustrated by Lloyd Scott for Clarke, Irwin, & Company, the book was translated by Charbonneau under the title La découverte du monde ("The Discovery of the World").
