Leslie Charteris, born Leslie Charles Bowyer-Yin on May 12, 1907, was a British-Chinese author and screenwriter who became a prominent figure in twentieth-century adventure fiction. Over the course of his career, Charteris established a lasting literary legacy, primarily through his creation of highly popular mystery and adventure narratives.
He is best known as the creator of Simon Templar, the heroic protagonist famously known by the alias "The Saint." Charteris authored numerous books chronicling Templar's adventures, which became the cornerstone of his professional writing career. In addition to his extensive work as a novelist, Charteris also worked as a screenwriter, adapting his storytelling talents for the screen. He passed away on April 15, 1993.
