Charles Victor Cherbuliez was a nineteenth-century Swiss and French novelist and author. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, in July 1829, he spent his early life and began his career in his native country. He later transitioned to French citizenship in 1879, integrating into the cultural and literary life of France during the late nineteenth century.\n\nAs an author, Cherbuliez achieved significant acclaim, which led to his election to the Académie Française in 1881. He was chosen as the eleventh member to occupy seat 3 of the prestigious institution. Cherbuliez continued his literary endeavors until his death in Combs-la-Ville, France, in early July 1899.
