Albert Tobias Clay was an American academic, historian, and Semitic linguist who made significant contributions to the study of the ancient Near East. Active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Clay focused his scholarly efforts on the languages, literature, and history of ancient Mesopotamia.

At Yale University, Clay served as a professor of Assyriology and Babylonian Literature.
