Mark Clattenburg is an English former professional football referee who is widely regarded as one of the most highly-rated European match officials of his generation. Born on 13 March 1975, Clattenburg built a distinguished career officiating at the highest levels of association football, serving as a member of both the Premier League and the Durham County Football Association.

During his tenure as a FIFA-listed referee, Clattenburg was selected to oversee several of the sport's most prestigious and high-pressure fixtures. His landmark year came in 2016, when he was appointed to referee both the UEFA Champions League final and the UEFA European Championship (Euro 2016) final, representing the pinnacle of achievement for a European match official.

Following his career on the pitch, Clattenburg transitioned into television broadcasting. He took on the role of lead referee for the 2024 BBC revival of the popular television show Gladiators, continuing his officiating career in a new entertainment format.
