Anna Louisa Walker, also known as Mrs. Harry Coghill, was an English and Canadian educator and writer active during the Victorian era. Born in 1836, she pursued a dual career in teaching and writing, producing a variety of literary works that reached audiences in both Britain and North America.
Over the course of her career, Walker authored five novels and published two collections of poetry, in addition to editing an autobiography. She is most widely remembered for her poem "The Night Cometh," which was adapted into the text for the well-known hymn "Work, for the night is coming." Walker passed away in 1907.
