Dame Averil Millicent Cameron, often cited as A. M. Cameron, was a prominent British historian who specialized in the fields of Late Antiquity, Classics, and Byzantine Studies. Born Averil Millicent Sutton, she dedicated her academic career to researching and writing about these historical periods, contributing to the modern understanding of the late Roman and Byzantine worlds.
Throughout her distinguished career, Cameron held major academic and leadership positions in the United Kingdom. She served as the Professor of Late Antique and Byzantine History at King's College London, and later became the Warden of Keble College, Oxford, a position she held from 1994 until 2010.
