Eleanor Cobham (c. 1400 – 1452) was an English noblewoman whose life was marked by her rise to high nobility and her subsequent dramatic downfall. She initially established a relationship with Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester, serving first as his mistress before eventually becoming his second wife.\n\nIn 1441, Cobham's life changed permanently when she was accused of treasonable necromancy. Following these charges, she was forcibly divorced from the Duke and sentenced to life imprisonment. This severe punishment is widely considered to have been politically motivated rather than a purely judicial matter.
