Harry Collingwood was the pseudonym of William Joseph Cosens Lancaster, a British civil engineer and novelist who lived from 1843 to 1922. Lancaster successfully balanced his career in civil engineering with a highly productive writing life, becoming a popular voice in late-nineteenth and early-twentieth-century fiction.\n\nUnder his pen name, Lancaster authored more than forty adventure books aimed at a young male audience. Almost all of these stories featured nautical settings, drawing on maritime themes to deliver tales of seafaring and exploration.
