Josiah Henry Combs was an American lawyer and judge who served in Perry County, Kentucky, during the late nineteenth century. He is best remembered historically for his central involvement in the French–Eversole Feud, a violent conflict that shook Perry County from 1887 to 1894.
As a prominent legal figure in the region, Combs found himself positioned at the center of the local rivalry. The feud, which lasted for seven years, ultimately claimed his life. Combs was assassinated on September 23, 1894, in Hazard, the county seat of Perry County, marking a tragic end to his career and life during a turbulent period in Kentucky's history.
