Henry Coppée was an American educator and author of the nineteenth century. Born in 1821, he dedicated his professional life to academia and writing, culminating in his landmark appointment as the first president of Lehigh University. As an author and educational pioneer, Coppée's legacy is closely tied to the establishment and early administration of Lehigh University. He remained active in his educational and literary endeavors until his death in 1895.
