The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) is a public library system located in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. Established in 1895 under its original name, the Fort Wayne Public Library, the institution initially operated out of a single room in City Hall, serving local residents with a starting collection of 3,606 books.
Over the years, the library system has grown to encompass a main library and 13 branch libraries situated in Fort Wayne and across Allen County. The downtown Fort Wayne Main Library Branch spans 367,000 square feet. This central facility is notable for housing the Fred J. Reynolds Historical Genealogy Department, which contains the largest public genealogy collection in the United States.
