Frederick Swartwout Cozzens (1818–1869) was an American humorist active during the mid-nineteenth century. Writing under his own name as well as the pseudonym Richard Haywarde, Cozzens contributed to the tradition of American humorous literature.\n\nBorn in March 1818, Cozzens developed a literary career capturing the attention of readers with his lighthearted style. He passed away in December 1869, leaving behind a legacy as a notable voice in early American humor.
