Dinah Maria Craik (1826–1887), born Dinah Maria Mulock and often credited as Miss Mulock or Mrs. Craik, was an English novelist and poet. Active during the nineteenth century, her literary career is defined by her focus on the social and moral landscapes of her contemporary era.
Craik's most enduring contribution to English literature is her novel John Halifax, Gentleman. The work is highly regarded for its detailed presentation of mid-Victorian ideals, particularly capturing the values, aspirations, and daily realities of English middle-class life during this period.
