Monette A. Cummings (1914–1999) was an American writer who carved out a versatile career in mid-to-late twentieth-century popular fiction. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Cummings wrote across several distinct genres, demonstrating a remarkable range that allowed her to transition smoothly between the historical elegance of regency romance and the imaginative scope of planetary romance.\n\nHer shorter speculative fiction was compiled in the 1968 anthology Exile and Other Tales of Fantasy, which highlighted her ability to craft engaging narratives within the fantasy and science fiction genres. In addition to her speculative works, Cummings achieved critical acclaim within the romance community. Her novel The Beauty’s Daughter earned her a prestigious Golden Medallion from the Romance Writers of America, cementing her legacy as a celebrated voice in romantic fiction.
