Herbert George de Lisser was a prominent Jamaican journalist and author who is widely regarded as one of the most conspicuous and influential figures in the history of West Indian literature. Born in 1878, his career spanned the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, during which he made significant contributions to the region's literary landscape.\n\nThough his career was rooted in journalism, de Lisser's creative and editorial work helped lay the groundwork for modern Caribbean writing.
