Born in New York City in 1861, Drachman spent his life and career in his home city, where he worked to establish and guide Orthodox Jewish communities during a period of significant growth and change.

Active at the turn of the twentieth century, Drachman's leadership helped shape the direction of American Orthodoxy. He remained an influential voice in the religious community until his death in New York City in 1945.
