Alfred Wilks Drayson (1827–1901) was an English army officer, writer, and astronomer active during the Victorian era. Throughout his life, Drayson balanced his military service with a dedicated interest in science and literature, publishing works on astronomy and other subjects. Today, he is also remembered for his personal association with the broader literary world of his time. Drayson was a close friend of the celebrated author Arthur Conan Doyle, who honored their relationship by dedicating his 1890 short story collection, The Captain of the Polestar, to him.
