Gerald Mitchell Rush is a former American professional football player who spent his entire National Football League (NFL) career as a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions. Born on August 7, 1942, Rush played college football for the Michigan State Spartans before transitioning to the professional league. Rush entered the NFL after being selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 1965 NFL draft. He remained with the franchise throughout his active playing years, contributing to the team's defensive lineup. His professional athletic career concluded when he retired during training camp prior to the start of the 1972 season.
