Charlotte Maria Tucker was an English writer and poet active during the nineteenth century. Writing under the pseudonym A.L.O.E., which stood for "A Lady of England," she produced a large volume of literary work aimed at both children and adult readers. Her career was marked by a high level of productivity in both prose and verse.
In her later years, Tucker transitioned from her literary endeavors in England to volunteer missionary work in India. She dedicated the final period of her life to this service, remaining in India until her death in December 1893.
