George Harold Edgell (1887–1954) was an influential American architectural and fine arts historian, author, and academic administrator. Active during the first half of the twentieth century, Edgell dedicated his career to the study and preservation of art history, earning a reputation as a leading expert on Sienese paintings. His scholarly contributions and leadership left a lasting mark on American cultural and educational institutions.
Over his career, Edgell held several prestigious positions, notably serving as the dean of the Harvard University School of Architecture. In this role, he helped shape architectural education and academic scholarship. He later brought his expertise to the public sphere as the director of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, where he guided one of the country's premier art institutions.
