James P. Bassett is an American jurist who served as a justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court. He obtained his legal education from the University of Virginia Law School, which laid the groundwork for his subsequent career in the judiciary.
Beyond his legal practice, Bassett engaged in political pursuits. In 1994, he sought the Republican nomination for New Hampshire's 2nd congressional district. In the primary election, he secured fourth place, capturing 14 percent of the total vote.
