David Thomas Fischer is an American business executive, civic leader, and diplomat. He served as the United States Ambassador to Morocco, a position for which he was confirmed in 2019 and held until 2021. Throughout his career, Fischer has been recognized for his leadership in both public service and the private sector.
Prior to his diplomatic appointment, Fischer built a prominent career in the automotive and logistics industries. He served as the chairman and CEO of The Suburban Collection (also known as Suburban Collection Holdings), a major privately held conglomerate. Under his leadership, the company grew to encompass a United States dealership group, nationwide accessories and parts distribution, and logistics and fleet management services across North America and Canada. Notably, the company's GLS division was named a General Motors "Supplier of the Year" in 2017.
In addition to his corporate and diplomatic roles, Fischer has been an active civic leader and philanthropist. His contributions to the automotive industry also include serving as the chairman emeritus for the North American International Auto Show.
