Nicolas Camille Flammarion (1842–1925) was a French astronomer and highly prolific author who made significant contributions to both scientific communication and early speculative fiction. Over the course of his career, Flammarion wrote and published more than fifty titles. His diverse body of work spanned popular science books focused on astronomy, several notable early science fiction novels, and various writings exploring psychical research and related topics. Through these publications, he sought to bring the mysteries of the universe closer to the general public.\n\nIn addition to his books, Flammarion was deeply involved in the active astronomical community of his era. In 1882, he founded and began publishing the magazine L'Astronomie to share scientific developments and observations. He also maintained a private observatory at Juvisy-sur-Orge, France, where he could conduct his own research and astronomical studies, cementing his legacy as a dedicated observer and popularizer of science.
