William James Flynn (1867–1928) was an American law enforcement administrator who served as the third director of the Bureau of Investigation. He held this leadership position from July 1, 1919, until August 21, 1921.\n\nHis tenure at the Bureau of Investigation occurred during a transitional period in American federal law enforcement, marking his place in the history of the organization that would eventually become the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
