Like her teammates in the titular group, Gertrude is the child of supervillains, specifically time-travelers with malevolent motives.\n\nWithin the group, Gertrude is distinguished as the most book-smart, sarcastic, and cynical member. A secular Jew with socialist leanings, she is visually defined by her purple-dyed hair and glasses, and she is well-known for her sharp, sarcastic one-liners. Her parents gifted her a genetically engineered dinosaur, a Deinonychus named Old Lace, with whom she shares a deep telepathic and emotional link.\n\nGertrude's storyline has achieved significant recognition, with Marvel.com ranking her death as the sixth best death in the history of Marvel Comics.
