Arthur Forrest (c. 1716 – 1770) was a British Royal Navy officer and colonial planter whose career spanned the mid-eighteenth century. He is best known for his military service during two of the era's major international conflicts: the War of the Austrian Succession and the Seven Years' War. Over his years of service in the Royal Navy, Forrest achieved significant promotions, ultimately rising to the rank of captain and earning the post of commodore.
Alongside his naval duties, Forrest was heavily involved in the colonial economy of the West Indies. He established himself as a prominent planter in the Colony of Jamaica, where he owned three thousand acres of sugar plantations. To operate these extensive agricultural estates, Forrest held a considerable number of enslaved people, linking his naval career with the broader transatlantic plantation system of the British Empire.
