Lewis Ransome Freeman was an American explorer, journalist, and war correspondent active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born in Genoa Junction, Wisconsin, in 1878, he developed a career centered on global travel and reportage, documenting his observations and experiences for a wide reading public.\n\nOver the course of his career, Freeman authored more than twenty books and a vast number of articles focusing on his extensive travels. His work as a war correspondent and explorer allowed him to chronicle diverse regions and historical events first-hand. He died in Pasadena, California, in 1960.
