Charles E. Fritch was an American author and editor who worked extensively across the genres of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and mystery fiction. Active during the mid-to-late twentieth century, Fritch contributed to the speculative and mystery fiction communities through both his original creative writing and his editorial leadership.
Among his notable editorial contributions, Fritch served as the editor of Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine from 1979 until 1985. As a writer, he is well-remembered for his short story "Misfortune Cookie," which gained broader cultural prominence when it was adapted into an episode of the television anthology series The Twilight Zone.
