He is most famous for creating the character of Professor Augustus S. F. X. Van Dusen, who was widely known as "The Thinking Machine" due to his rigorous application of logic to solve mysteries.\n\nFutrelle's contributions to the mystery genre were cut short when he passed away in 1912.
