Warren Ives Bradley, who wrote under the pseudonym Glance Gaylord, was an American author of children's literature during the mid-nineteenth century. Born on March 27, 1847, in Bristol, Connecticut, Bradley spent his entire life in his hometown. Despite his tragically brief life, which ended when he was just twenty-one years old, he managed to establish a highly productive writing career.\n\nOver the course of his short career, Bradley authored fifteen books targeted at young readers, alongside a vast output of articles published in various newspapers and magazines of the era. His rapid output and dedication to children's fiction made him a notable, if short-lived, figure in American letters. Bradley passed away in Bristol on June 15, 1868. Today, his literary contributions and personal papers are preserved for historical study at the Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University.
