Sinclair Black is an American urban designer, planner, architect, educator, and author who has spent his career advancing the fields of environmental planning and sustainable design. As an academic, he has shared his expertise with generations of students, helping to shape contemporary approaches to urban spaces.\n\nBlack serves as the Roberta P. Crenshaw Centennial Professor Emeritus in Urban Design and Environmental Planning. His contributions to the discipline were formally recognized in 2008 when he was awarded the Athena Medal by the Congress for the New Urbanism.
