George Wilkins Guthrie was an American public official and diplomat who served in prominent municipal and international roles during the early twentieth century.\n\nGuthrie served as the Mayor of Pittsburgh from 1906 to 1909. Following his tenure in local government, he was appointed as the United States Ambassador to Japan, serving in this diplomatic capacity from 1913 until his death in 1917.
