Elizabeth Howe Bradley is an academic administrator, author, and political scientist who serves as the eleventh president of Vassar College, a position she assumed in July 2017. Alongside her presidential duties, she holds joint professorships in political science and in science, technology, and society at Vassar. Her academic work focuses heavily on global health, healthcare systems, and public policy.\n\nPrior to her leadership at Vassar, Bradley spent a significant portion of her career at Yale University. There, she served as the Brady-Johnson Professor of Grand Strategy and was the head of Branford College. Demonstrating her commitment to international health initiatives, she also founded and directed the Yale Global Health Leadership Institute, which aims to strengthen health systems worldwide through education and research.\n\nAn active researcher and writer, Bradley has contributed extensively to her field, publishing more than 300 peer-reviewed papers. She has also co-authored three books, most notably The American Healthcare Paradox: Why Spending More Is Getting Us Less, which examines systemic issues within healthcare infrastructure. In recognition of her contributions to public health and international policy, she was elected to the National Academy of Medicine and named a member of the Council of Foreign Affairs in 2018.
